A birthday note

Getting older has never phased me but saying goodbye to 28 was a A a bitter sweet moment.
I turned 29 on Saturday and I am not going to lie to you, it wasn’t an easy switch. The year I spent as 28 years old was the best year of my life, I landed my dream job as an E! Host, travelled to over 10 different countries and finally got C&C on the map as an established Travel & Style Blog. My husband got promoted, my best friend got married, my sister got engaged and my brother finally moved out of our family home 😉 It was a great year and one in which I learnt so much about myself.

Turning 29 was a big leap for me as it meant leaving last year behind, however, I can honestly say that for the past 5 years, I have felt the same way every birthday.

My line of work is very progressive and I still have a long way to go. My job is a dream, I work for my favourite channel and I am obsessed with every thing we are doing as a brand. If I have my way I’ll never leave E! but I am also still striving for that ultimate recognition as a TV presenter, so there is still some way for me to go. I am hoping that this year will be the year that happens and trust me I will be doing everything in my power to make it so!

My occupation is my life, there is never a moment when I have a full day off, I am either writing, shooting, filming or keeping tabs with all my internet platforms and that’s not even mentioning the fun stuff like client management, invoicing, accounts and admin! Yet, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I left a really well paid job in recruitment to pursue my presenting career as it was always a dream of mine. The 5 years that have past I have still not earned the same as one year’s salary in my old job – how mad is that? I chose passion over money though and still to this day my friends and family members find that shocking. I was working at a very high level in recruitment and I literally wanted for nothing on a materialistic level but I was desperate to (excuse the cliche) follow my dreams, and so I did.

My bank balance has never looked so bleak, but I have never once looked back.

For me my new year’s resolutions kick in when I myself start a new year, a whole new list of goals is mentally written up. This year however I feel as though I am already prepared and ready for the year ahead. I have so many amazing things to look forward to! There’s so much coming up with E! and I already have 3 trips booked for the next two months alone. I am also working on a top secret project that will come to light in a few months that I just can’t wait to share with you all!

Of course all this wouldn’t be possible without the amazing support from you guys, my friends and family and most of all my ridiculously awesome husband. So as I transition into my 29th year I’d like to say a huge thank-you to each and every one of you for reading this post today – you’re here, on Clutch & Carry-on and I love you for it! x
