Afternoon Tea, Italian Style

IMG_8426
During my stay at The Baglioni Hotel London last week I was offered a chance to try their afternoon tea but being the healthy bot that I am, I naturally declined. I couldn’t possibly indulge in cakes and champers just a week before my holiday, that would be madness đŸ˜‰ Drool Alert!

I love a good afternoon tea! Champagne, mini sandwiches, cakes, pastries and lots of tea has long been one of my favourite ways to catch up with friends. This, however, was my very first try of an Italian Afternoon Tea. The same concept – minature treats’s with beverages but featuring some delicious Italian specialties that do not usually feature in a standard British High Tea.

Focaccia’s among the sandwiches and nutella filled Sfogliatella’s nestled in with the cakes, a deliciously unique spread.

I tried a Cannoli for the first time, which after watching endless episodes of Cake Boss (if you know you know ;)) I was very excited about. For me they were the best part of the entire selection, the white chocolate flavour especially. I loved them! They reminded me of cheesecake a little bit, but sweeter and with a crunchy pastry base.

My friend Aimee’s favourite was the chocolate brownie, oh and the scones……probably the best scones I have ever tasted. So much so that I had two. Needless to say I was waddling upstairs afterwards!

As I have mentioned so many times before, the staff at The Baglioni are so fabulous, they know exactly what to do to make you feel special when you are staying at the hotel and it seems their hospitality is extended to the lovely waiting staff in the restaurant.

This would be a lovely treat for you if you fancied trying something a little different, the decor and ambiance of the hotel is lush and the location, for me, is perfect. See my hotel review here.

The Italian afternoon tea is £37.00 per person and £44.0.00 per person if you go for the champagne option. A super reasonable price, if you think you could easily spend that on a light lunch in Kensington. A lovely way to spend a full afternoon (Aimee and I spent 4 hours working our way through the spread!) especially during these last few weeks of cold weather.

I’m excited to return in the summer too as they have a lovely little terrace outside with a great view of Hyde Park.

If you fancy indulging , the booking details and menu’s are here.

Thanks again to the fab team at The Baglioni for such a great afternoon.
