New York Fashion Week with E!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For the world’s fashion elite there is no better place to see or be seen than New York Fashion Week, so naturally, E! UK & Ireland wanted a slice of the action! It seems like a lifetime ago now but it’s actually only been two weeks since I returned from one of my favourite cities in the world, New York.

I travelled out to the big apple with my E! Stylist and blogger babe Claire Chanelle as part of an editorial collaboration with Look Magazine. We had the opportunity to meet with my amazing international and US E! team, attend some great shows and of course shoot the influencer campaign itself.

I know that a lot of you watched along via insatstories, instagram, twitter and snapchat (all hail social media live videos!) but for me the highlight of the trip was, of course, attending the live filming of E!’s Fashion Police.

I have met the cast of fashion police three times now, not that any of the team remembered me (A-Listers hey?!) but it is always so great to see them. The panel now consists of Giuliana Rancic, Melissa Rivers, Nene Leakes and Brad Goreski. The guest panelists of the day were Tim Gunn & Hailey Clauson.

We were in the audience for the whole show and it was such an amazing experience. Giuliana is my absolute idol and to see her in action is so incredibly inspirational. I have interviewed her a few times now but only ever had the pleasure of watching her really get to work through the TV screens so to see her and Melissa in action was amazing. I am always so humbled and appreciative when I meet with any of the US talent because before becoming the E! Host UK & Ireland I was (and still am even) E!’s biggest fan. I feel like I have essentially grown up with Giuliana and the team and being a part of it all now is the most amazing achievement. I have written a few articles on here about my path to becoming the E! Host but as my career starts to lead down an even more exciting path it was so great to simply watch as a fan and consumer. I was such a live show ‘audience geek’ too, oohing’ and ahhing’ in all the right places 😉 You can actually hear me in the show’s opening! If my career with E! ends here there will always be that opening cheer!

The E! lounge itself was super fun and glamourous. Asides from the live filming of Fashion Police we were treated to Treseme blow dries and personalised coffees in the comfort of the plush lounge. The space was situated perfectly at moynihan station in the thick of things where all the main shows took place.

As guests of E! Claire and I were also lucky enough to also get our butts to a few shows. Due to commitments with filming and shooting for the campaign we didn’t have that much time on our hands but the whole idea of the project was for me to be your eyes and ears on the ground at NYFW so shows were also obligatory!

My personal favourite was Christian Siriano, the Italian designer showcased an array of feminine and etherial dresses, jumpsuits and separates. The billowing silky fabrics looked stunning on the runway and the cut-out details within the collection of stunning jumpsuits had me quite literally drooling over the models as they strutted towards me. I have my eye on a few of the designs for my next E! Red Carpet appearances in fact 😉 Christian, if you are reading this I’ll have the jumpsuits in every colour and design please!

We also watched the Jenny Packham show from the FROW which was a real treat, I remember lusting over her bridal collection when I was getting married years ago and I have been hooked by the designer ever since. The Duchess of Cambridge is a big fan of Jenny’s designs, I did look out for our favourite princess but she must have watched the show via our snapchats 😉

The most innovative and exciting catwalk was by far, Tommy Hilfiger who’s AW/16 runway show was essentially a Gigi Hadid themed carnival complete with branded fairground rides! The showspace was so impressive that it was opened up to the public to enjoy the day later as a fabulous pop-up.

We didn’t make it to the show due to other commitments but we did head down to the carnival style pier the next day to enjoy the randomly unique set up!

A huge part of the campaign for this project was of course, as two bloggers, shooting our looks. I was dressed by Luisa via Roma & Net-A-Porter during the project which was an actual dream! My favourite look incorporated both brands. This swan tale ensemble below 😀

I was lucky enough to write a few articles for E!Online for the trip as well as the LOOK magazine feature. There’s a few tips and tricks for boosting your instagram profile here then Claire & I also wrote up a trend report for the week which you can view here – it’s well worth a read, you’ll be very very pleased to hear what the hottest looks for Autumn are 😉

Our Look feature was in last week’s issue on page 14, if you don’t manage to catch it on print here was the final result 😀

Throughout the campaign we stayed at the Conrad New York which was the perfect spot for me to dash back and forth between shows. The rooms are so lovely and large too, with 5 suitcases between my Claire and I space was very much a requirement! 😉 I’ll be doing a full review of the hotel on Sunday so stay tuned!

My first experience of New York Fashion week was amazing and overwhelming, watching the latest fashion trends unfold on both the catwalks and sidewalks was a truly great experience and to be able to enjoy it as part of an exciting and influential collaboration was such an amazing achievement.
