Ultimate Jungle Luxury, Arenal’s Nayara Hotel & Spa

best hotel in costa rica, arenal, nayara springs

Lend me your imagination for a few moments, think of waking up to the sounds of the jungle, tweeting birds, howling monkeys and the rustle of the tress, sounds that are both calming and invigorating at the same time. You sweep back your crisp white sheet of muslin that separates your bed from your view and wander out onto your wooden balcony to be greeted by moist warm air and a view that takes your breath away. As hummingbirds hover before your eyes and your hot tub bubbles away beside you your eyes are drawn forward to the towering volcano in the distance, nestled amongst the rich vegetation and bright blue skies…………..

Although this image in front of you may seem like a oil painted mirage, you are, in fact, looking at the same view you’ve seen for the last few mornings. This, is your room at Nayara Hotel & Spa.

Nayara Hotel & Spa

Imagination aside I’m hoping in this instance a scroll through this post will convince you of my words. Last month as part of a hosted press stay with the Costa Rican Tourism board I spent three nights at the stunning Nayara Hotel & Spa in Arenal.

The hotel is divided into two sister hotels, Nayara and Nayara Springs both of which have open facilities for guests residing in either property. The Nayara Springs Hotel is the more high-end of the two with each villa boasting a private pool and Nayara is the more affordable option. I stayed in the latter and having enjoyed every moment of my room, it’s hard to imagine that there is the option for an upgrade!

The Rooms

My room was amazingly spacious with a huge indoor and outdoor bathroom, ample wardrobe space, a large four poster bed and a gorgeous outdoor balcony complete with a hammock and a hot tub. The rooms are all nestled into the thick rainforest surroundings making each and every suite secluded, so much so that you feel as though you are the only person in the entire resort. With the rooms being tucked into nature so beautifully the romance of the rainforest is evident everywhere, taking an outdoor shower under the stars or indulging in a bubbling bath in front of the active volcano are both daily affairs.

The Pool

The pool areas are plenty with options in both hotels however my personal favourite was located in the Nayara Springs complex. This pool was probably one of my now favourites in the world! Dreamy turquoise water, shade umbrellas with seats in the pool, a swim up bar and another breathtaking viewpoint for Arenal Volcano. Here they serve yummy speciality cocktails and snacks and with wifi everywhere in the hotel my fellow journalists and I found it to be the perfect spot for a writing session 😉

The resort also features three natural hot springs, in other words jacuzzis fuelled by nature! These spacious hot tubs are the perfect escape from the afternoon of rain of you are travelling during the wet season, protected by an umbrella of trees you can sit and enjoy the warm water with friends whilst the sky crashes with thunder above you, having spent all my evenings there I can tell you, it’s bliss!

The Food

Food served in the Nayara Hotel & Spa was sensational, for me the best food I sampled in the whole of Costa Rica. Fresh coconuts were laid out every morning along with one of the biggest breakfast buffets I’ve seen in central America! Pancake, french toast, waffle and egg stations were all set up with speedy attendance and your classic breakfast pastries, fruits and yoghurts were laid out a plenty. The evening meal option was also buffet style and it was divine! For me the inventive salad spread alone had me going back for seconds and thirds and for my fellow journalists who ate meat you could order a steak to your liking and also enjoy a number of other buffet style dishes. Desert was served as a small taster selection and the wine list was amazingly extensive. I would have been happy to eat here every single night!

The hotel is perfectly located in Arenal and there are so many amazing things to do in area, from the famous 7 stint zip line to the luxurious Tabacon Thermal Spa. Arenal for me was the highlight of my whole trip to Costa Rica. It’s the bucket list destination for the country with so much to see and do there. Check out my video for all the thinsg we got up to in Arenal:

I am always on the lookout to share with you luxury hotels for adventure seekers and I definitely hit the jackpot with this one!

C&C Verdict

If you’re looking to enjoy the adventure and adrenaline of the Rainforest but return home every evening to a slice of paradise and luxury touches then this hotel is absolutely perfect for you. It’s especially perfect for couples and also families with teenage children as the activities in the area are so diverse.

Such a romantic and unique resort is perfect for honeymooners. Newlyweds would adore the isolation and the service is spectacular, with amazing food, gorgeous pools, dreamy views at every corner and a top class spa you wouldn’t need to leave the complex, although, I highly urge that you do! More on things to do in Arenal next week 😉
