The Westin, Costa Navarino

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and carry on - uk travel blogger, costa navarino, costa navarino blog, london travel blogger, sabrina chakici tblogger-219Luxury doesn’t have to cost the world, you just have to know where to find it πŸ˜‰

As you know from yesterday’s post I recently travelled to Greece for a long weekend and stayed in the stunning resort of Costa Navarino.

You’ve seen what’s on offer outside of the resort walls, now it’s time to show you more about the location itself and talk you through one of the luxury hotels you can stay at whilst visiting here.

The resort has two 5 star hotels within it’s boundaries and we stayed at The Westin Costa Navarino for our 3 night stay. Myself and Emma travelled from London to Athens and upon arrival at the airport we were transported to the resort of Costa Navarino by car. It’s a three and a half hour journey from Athens without traffic, quite a long trip but we were lucky enough to have an excellent driver who made stops for us along the way. We got to see lots of beautiful Greek scenery along the way too, so we were quite content πŸ™‚

On arrival, we were stunned by the impressive hotel grounds, it’s abundantly obvious that this is a 5 star resort that takes pride in it’s appearance. The air smelt of sweet vanilla and the beautiful exposed brickwork was a truly wonderful sight upon arrival.

The daily breakfast spread was certainly something! We were spoilt for choice each morning and there is no suggestion worth adding as the huge buffet truly covered every taste and preference. The coffee is ordered and created upon your request and they have without a doubt, the best green smoothie I have ever had! I fully intend on writing to the kitchen to ask for the recipe in fact.

The breakfast restaurant itself is large and offers an outdoor space which beautifully looks over the grounds so you can have a morning munch in the sunshine, there is also the added novelty (and necessity) of a hawk who scares away the sparrows from your brekkie – this was a really great touch for spectating too, as the handler was always happy to pose for photos and gesture the hawk perform tricks πŸ˜‰

We were fortunate enough to stay in a truly show-stopping ground floor room with private pool. Ours looked out onto the beach too which was an added treat and an amazing way to wake up every morning. The rooms are spacious and clean and boast some of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. I think the Westin won an award for them actually, something I never take for granted as I am usually a terrible sleeper!

The outside space is lush, you could quite happily never leave your room!

The resort’s private beach was just a few steps away from our room and considering our visit was mid April we were so lucky to be able to lay out in the sun and enjoy the beautiful scenery one afternoon.

The stone beach is stunning, with views either side of the Greek mountains and beautiful crisp blue waters ahead. It’s also completely exclusive, the resort’s guests are the only ones who have access to this stretch of beach. There’s plenty of sun beds and more space than you could ever desire for a beach day. We strolled down to the peninsula as well which was lovely, a great way to see the hotel and resort from another perspective whilst catching some rays πŸ˜‰

If you are a true beach bum and fancy a change of scenery one day you can venture out further, just 10 minutes by car you’ll find one of THE most spectacular beaches in Europe; Navarino Bay – see more here.

Within the resort there is a number of stunning, well-kept pools if you prefer a controlled dip πŸ˜‰ Each pool has it’s own unique design and each offers marvellous views, so wherever you decide to place you towel you’re set!

In the evenings you are spoilt for choice when deciding where to eat, and again, I’m talking within the resort walls. There is a wide range of eateries from a fine dining steak house to a laid back traditional souvlaki.

In my short stay I was lucky enough to try 4 of the amazing restaurants as well as a cheeky room service dessert πŸ˜‰

Flame restaurant is ascetically beautiful with gorgeous views across the beautiful hotel grounds and famous golf course, all the way to the Mediterranean sea. The vibe is laid back luxury here, it’s cosy and warm with large tables and a beautiful outdoor area. The menu is the prefect size for a steak house with other dining options to suit those not opting for heavy meats. After a long day of travelling Emma and I decided to treat ourselves and opted for a fillet steak. Β It was divine, one of the best steaks I have had in fact! Quite a statement seeing as I travelled though South America for a month but a true one all the same!

Da Luigi is the Italian of the culinary family of restaurants at The Westin and my personal favourite – the menu is very varied and the food was delicious. I had a selection of meats, cheeses and peppers for my starter, most of which were actually from Costa Navarino as the resort is very big on using home grown, natural and organic products within the walls – it was yummy! Β I then had the cheese and truffle oil pizza for main, this was Ah-Ma-Zing! As you can see, my usual healthy diet went out of the window in Greece!

The Souvlaki was also a personal favourite of ours as it was such a quick and easy lunch spot. Outside dining, an open oven and a perfect midday walk-in to grab some delicious hot food. The Greek equivalent of fast food πŸ˜‰ The chicken skewers with feta dip and chips was my go to!

We also ventured out one evening for traditional Greek cooking class which was a real highlight of our trip – head to yesterday’s review for more on that.

This is a unique resort that definitely lives up to it’s high accreditation. The staff are lovely, service is sharp, food is delicious and the overall keep of the resort is top notch. Then, of course, the design, the scenery and the location – all of which is truly stunning! The pictures help me to showcase this fact, the rest you’ll have to take my word on πŸ˜‰

The resort, in my opinion couldn’t have been in a better location for this area of Greece and the hotel leaves you wanting for nothing; gorgeous scenery, luxury comforts, delicious food, amazing beaches and so many awesome activities and exciting ventures on it’s doorstep.

If you haven’t already, take a look a yesterday’s post which is all about the surrounding areas and how to make the most of staying in this resort for a long weekend.

A big thank-you goes out to Vasillia from Costa Navarino for showing us all the resort has to offer and thanks so much to Hills Balfour for helping me organise such a fab getaway.

*I travelled with a friend and a few days was perfect for us but having seen what’s on offer here for families I would be confident in saying that this is a great spot for a full vacation/holiday for a week or two. The resort has accommodated for everyone, there’s a family waterpark, a kids club and many more opprtunities to get the whole family involved. Oh also, it happens to be one of the most famous golf resorts in Europe!! A late mention seeing as I have never swung a club in my whole life πŸ˜‰
