A day in Venice

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-84First things first, if you are in Venice, you NEED to take a trip on a Gondala!
For me this is the absolute must when visiting this car free city. It’s the only place in the world (apart from the Venetian in Vegas ;)) that you can do this and it’s such a lovely way to see the city.

They have quite a slick system in Venice so that all the prices are fixed regardless of which gondola you take and from where. It costs 80 euros for half an hour. Now, don’t get be wrong, I think that is quite pricey but then again when you are visiting such a unique and untouched city you have to remember that you are paying towards not only your 30 minute trip but also to the city itself.

One spot you should definitely walk around is The Piazza San Marco – This is said to be one of the most beautiful squares in the world and it really is breathtaking. As with most big cities you visit there was the unfortunate added extra of restoration scaffolding (boo). That doesn’t take away from the beauty though, the square is full to the brim of cute little shops and cafes, we stopped and had a quick cup of tea (ironically to cool us down!) at the Caffe Florian and it was great to take in the amazing atmosphere.Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-125

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-134You can visit the gorgeous Church of St Mark here and also go to the top of the Clock Tower to take in the breathtaking views. From here, you can see the whole of Venice.Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-147

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-141The square leads out onto the water and it’s always super busy so probably best to visit in the early hours. We didn’t really plan our day so we ended up here at around 3pm – hence the swarms of people in these pics!

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-60Our trip was short but sweet, we only had a day to explore but I genuinely think that’s all you need in Venice. As much as a few days would have given us more time to explore and enjoy the stunning streets I was more than happy with just spending a sweet day here.

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch and Carry on - UK Fashion blogger & UK Travel Blogger - Venice Travel Blog-120In the evening we dined at the Taverna Al Remer – which was quite the find! This is a super cute rustic restaurant hidden away by the grand canal. It was an absolute nightmare to find, but worth it! The place has a short and sweet menu, great service and a really cool live band. it ca get quite lively in the evenings and it seemed to be the place to be as it was full of beautiful people and had such a fun atmosphere. There is also happy hour between 5-9pm – bonus 😉
