When it comes to London Fashion Week it’s all about managing your time, jumping between shows and presentations and changing outfits in-between to ensure the paps don’t catch the same look twice can be tiring!
From my experience this past week being able to transform a daytime look into an evening outfit is a perfect way to save hours traveling back and forth! With this in mind I thought I would take the opportunity to show you a great way to vamp up your daytime look simply by switching up the smaller details.
So first things first, work backwards. Figure out your evening look, work out what bag and jewellery will look best and then work on making that particular outfit look a little more casual for the day time.
For me, I knew that I wanted to wear my Karen Millen knee high boots and Balmain Skirt for my evening event so I had those two key pieces to work around. I teamed them up with white shirt which gave me the option to play with buttons, a little lower neckline in the evening goes a long way 😉 To complete the look I packed some beautiful rose gold statement jewellery and a burgundy lipstick.
With my key switch-up items packed it was then all about making this oufit look more casual and day-time appropriate for my afternoon show. I added my Burberry trench first a foremost as it’s such a classy coat and it’s also super lightweight for carrying around in the evening 😉
I chose this fab ‘Style Code’ bag for my outfit as it ticked all boxes on the LFW trend front. It’s mini, structured and has a that stylish metallic bar accross the handle. It’s also surprisingly roomy, did you catch my ‘what’s in my LFW handbag’ on my instastories? – it fit my camera, phone, make-up, hairbrush, invites & even an umbrella!
I added this beautiful silk scarf to the handle for my daytime look, adding silk to any outfit during Autumn is a good move! If I learnt anything from these last two weeks it’s that silk is the number one fabric for this season. You can see how else I styled up silk with Folli Follie here & here.
My beautiful braids were done at The Apartment. For an easy day to night transition I would really recommend braiding your hair for the day, that way when you ‘let you hair down’ in the evening you hair will have a natural wave.

So you already knew what the evening look was going to be 😉 Off comes the coat, out go the braids and on goes my stunning rose gold earrings and bracelet.
With room to spare in my bag I whipped out my jewellery and tucked away my scarf. I was also more inclined to hold the bag with the top handle, what is it about repositioning an accessory that makes all the difference? The bag does actually have a detachable strap (see how else I wore it here) but I liked having the option of both on this occasion.
Fashion Week is just one occasion where an easy switch from day to night can be valuable but also living and working in a busy city like London these little tricks can go a long way!
- Pack bold jewellery – Statement earrings are a great way to create a noticeable difference, chunky wrist wear and striking necklaces are also a great option to pop in your day bag.
- Wear a casual light weight coat during the day, a floor length cardigan or oversized jumper could also work well.
- Switch up your whole make-up look with your lipstick – Opt for either a deeper colour or a brighter colour to that which you wore during the day.
- Braid your hair – Add natural evening waves to your hair by wearing braids during the day. Switching you hair up for the evening can make the whole outfit look different.
- Wear a deceivingly big handbag – Make sure your handbag is big enough to fit all your accessories but small enough to look great with your evening look.
