White Rocks Kefalonia

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that after what seems like a lifetime I’m finally back to exploring! As most of you will already know, my favourite place in the world is Greece so to embark on my return to international travel here on C&C it felt only right to head back to my beloved Greek islands. Having desperately missed the sea over the last two years the deciding factor for my first ‘escape’ was a destination with an amazing view of the sea.

As soon as I saw White Rocks Kefalonia I knew it was exactly the right place as the hotel’s dreamy setting makes it pretty much impossible to escape a view of the Sea……..

The family run luxury hotel takes such pride in their own history inspiring guests that visit to feel every much a part of the continuing story of the resort. Built onto the waters edge, White Rocks seamlessly offers access to three beaches, one of which is privately secluded and every single one is fringed with fine golden sand that meets crystal clear swim-worthy water.

With towering trees and cobbled walkways there isn’t a step taken inside the resort where you are not overwhelmed by the beauty of the surrounding nature. The elegance of a modern resort nestled into untouched foliage is what made this hotel so special and unique and why I loved every minute of my stay.

Whenever I travel there’s always a desire within me to explore as much as possible and that often means leaving the resort but what sets White Rocks apart from your average luxury resort is the adventures that can be had just a few salty footsteps away.

Swim-up beaches lie beneath, turquoise coves sit side by side and there’s even a tiny island connected by the slither of shimmering sand that is lined with parasols and beds on the hotel’s private beach.

It looks like someone has painted a sandbank into the scene just for viewing pleasure but this natural phenomenon is so pretty you almost don’t believe your eyes.

There’s a number of different room categories within the hotel but for the true wow-factor there’s a handful of suites with their very own infinity plunge pools, one of which was occupied for the long weekend by yours truly 😉

The Suites with infinity Pool are truly special with, in my opinion, the absolute best view of the sunset on the entire island. Having this seclusion and privacy whilst enjoying the luxury comforts of the resort (let’s add a glass of wine to your hand to truly paint a picture) and seeing the sun sink into the sea to then fill the sky with colour………life doesn’t get better than that!

Due to low occupancy there was only one main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner open during our stay, the perfectly poised White Room.

With views out over the trees and sea, great service and a varied menu we dined here quite happily starting and ending our days.

Exploring Kefalonia

During our stay we had the opportunity to visit the reason behind the hotel’s name, Kefalonia’s White Rocks. It was a truly special experience and one I highly recommend! Accessible only by boat, the rocks themselves are impressive but it’s the vibrant blue water that really takes your breath away.

This is the reason tourists flock to the Ionian Sea without disappointment year after year. Myself included!

With help from the hotel’s amazing concierge team we were also advised to  explore the ‘best bits’ of Kefalonia by car which included the famous Melissa Cave. The team seamlessly arranged a hire car for us so we were able to witness the true beauty of the island. I was blown away by the diversity of the scenery and roads but there’s nothing that could have prepared me for the awe-inspiring experience of boating through Melissani Cave.

Having just opened the day prior we were lucky enough to share the excursion with just a few others meaning we had an entire row boat JUST for the two of us. Talk about a ‘pinch me’ moment, I’ve never seen a natural tourist attraction so empty.

It is, as with the white rocks, a ‘must-see’ when it comes to ‘Things to do in Kefalonia’ the concierge team nailed it!

White Rocks Kefalonia was the perfect escape for us, the unique seclusion, the luxury of having our own private pool, the gorgeous beaches and the breathtaking sunset views, it’s somewhere I am so pleased to have witnessed, enjoyed and now shared.

With so much uncertainty and anxiety surrounding travel at the moment the team at White Rocks have worked seamlessly to make guests feel safe in such an open environment and taken all the necessary steps to aid any ‘people traffic’ discomfort during meals times. They have also gone as far to create an in-room spa service where a therapist comes to your very own suite to provide treatments. I was lucky enough to indulge in a sunset massage and with such an incredible view alongside the sound of the sea in my ears it made for quite the once in a lifetime experience!
