A proud moment shared……….

Clutch and carry on - uk fashion blogger - join comb - sabrina chakici_-59Sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone is just what we need.

February is here, the BAFTAs, the GRAMMYs, Fashion Weeks – one of the busiest months of the year for me and I’m so excited for the madness to start!

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Comb again last week and we decided to go for something a little bit different, with the help of my good friend and make-up artist Anna Lingis we created a series of images that were so different to my usual style and I absolutely love them. I will be creating a series of posts featuring the images but I wanted to share these two today as they reflect exactly what I wanted to talk about in today’s post.

Every once and a while it pays to step outside of your comfort zone.

Last year was the most amazing year of my life, I landed my dream job as the UK & Ireland Host of E! and I travelled the world thanks to all my efforts and hard work on this very site. Life couldn’t get any better, or so I thought. A few weeks ago my lovely team at E! asked me to start writing for E! Online. Having studied Journalism and Drama at university I have always been really interested in writing and pop culture but I never thought that my writing skills were worthy of print. I think I have spent my whole adult life auditioning and working hard on my presenting career I hadn’t made the effort to pursue anything else. I started this blog as a hobby which it still very much is, it has never really been an effort for me with regards to the writing. I type up what I am feeling, what I am wearing and where I’m travelling to next but Clutch & Carry-on is not an editorial style blog, it has always been about the pictures for me. So to go from writing the odd paragraph to explain a photo to writing for a world-wide and heavily respected brand was a tremendous but very welcome challenge for me.

The crazy thing is, I now love wiring for E! Online almost as much as I love presenting for the channel! I think deep down I have always been a writer, I just never really appreciated it as a skill. Now I’m not trying to say I am an expert, I’m still content simply thinking out loud on print (hence my blog!) but I wanted to share my thoughts with you to show that even when you think a door is closed there is always the possibility of opening it. Never underestimate your talents or dismiss them, one day that chance may be given to you when you least expect it.

I also wanted to take this moment to mention that it’s a good thing to note your personal achievements. With social media running the world these days I think that it’s so easy to miss moments in your life that you should be proud of. We get so tied up in what other people have achieved that we don’t take the time to pat ourselves on the back every now and again. There is always that worry that people will think you are ‘bragging’ and this has been something that I have always been weary of. At the same time, I think why should’t I acknowledge my merits? If you have worked your ass off to achieve something it’s only right to take an moment to appreciate it. I was once given the advice that if you don’t value your own worth and achievements you can’t expect anyone else to. That old chestnut ‘Love Yourself’ really is the best way to live life to the fullest in my opinion, although it’s not as easy to do as it is to say!

Here is a link to my first piece written for Eonline.com – Click Here

I would love for you guys to read it and let me know what you think. The piece is written in an editorial style which is where I am most comfortable. I love coming up with sassy tag lines and captions, all the while giving my own opinion. I have written a few more articles for the site which will go up this week, I’ll make sure to share them on my social media handles.

I’m so pleased and proud to be able to share this with you all. eonline.com has 17,000,000 unique visitors a month so it’s a huge achievement and I am really lucky to have the platform to share this with you.

Thanks for reading, love yourself girlies, take the time today to tell yourself something you are proud of and if you are feeling really brave, comment and share it with me below x
