The Balquisse Heritage Hotel, Jimbaran Bali

Continuing on the posts from my solo trip to Bali I’d like to now share with you one of the dreamiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in, The Balquisse Heritage Hotel.

My blog has and will always focus on luxury travel but I’ve recently stayed in a few truly ‘Once-In-A-Lifetime’ hotels which were incredible value for money, The Balquisse is another great example of such and one I’m so pleased to let you all in on the secret!

After spending some time in Canggu at The Kalapa Yoga Retreat and then a few nights on Nusa Penida Island, I moved further South to a hotel recommended to me by a friend. After months of research before a trip to Bali last May she had chosen to spend a night at this hotel. Seeing just a handful of her beautiful photos was enough for me to book without a moment’s delay. It was, in fact the only ‘planned’ hotel for my entire solo trip and undoubtedly my fondest.

Located in the heart of Jimbaran, a beachy fisherman’s village close to Uluwatu, The Balquisse Heritage Hotel is just a hop, skip and jump away from the main shopping promenade and a 10 minute walk to the local beach, though, upon entry, the hotel creates a welcoming illusion that you are in another world entirely.

The idyllic 16-room sanctuary that was built in the 60’s has been re-vamped into one of the swankiest retreats in the whole of Bali. It is classed as more of a pricey property when it comes to Indonesia but in Western terms the hotel is really affordable for it’s level of luxury. With this in mind, I ‘splashed’ out on their finest suite for 3 days.

The resort’s charming traditonal architecture is beautifully enveloped by fanning flora and fauna and with a matching sophisticated decor the ambiance inside the complex is the definition of serene! From the moment I arrived I was soothingly lulled into a whimsical world that no matter how magnificent, was never a figment of my imagination.

The Heritage Suite

All of the rooms at The Balquisse are impressively exquisite, perfectly continuing the etherial theme but for a stay with a unique charm, book yourself in to the one of the two self contained heritage suites, like I did, you won’t regret it!

The private houses are tucked away at the very back of the resort offering those who stay a personalised experience of stepping back in time. Sleeping in this room for the few nights of my stay felt as though I was living out of pages from a classic heritage novel and having the additional magic of the stunning surrounding grounds was a dream come true. It’s an experience I will never forget.

With all the modern luxuries of first class service and bespoke toiletries the rooms are filled with dramatic drapes, lush linens, antique one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and a bathtub that ensures you’ll never even notice what the shower looks like!

Outside of your pretty thatched villa the location of the Heritage suite is especially romantic, a dreamy swimming pool and charming lounge area are within footsteps from your wooden balcony.

The foliage draped pool also sits in front of a large stately home which acts as the ‘Function House’ where guests can hire exclusively for events, or host delicious and elegant a-la-carte dinners.

The Balquisse Heritage Hotel, is a truly romantic escape for couples but also so wonderfully secluded that it was perfect for the continuation of my solo escape. The old coconut plantation is very intimate with a stunning sense of tranquility that lures you immediately into the relaxing Balinese way of life, exactly what the doctor had ordered for me!

Every corner turned round the estate was wandering ‘wow’ moment and it’s a hotel I would love to return to one day.
