When the perfect night in ends up being the perfect night out……
Whilst spending a couple of weeks in Miami last month my friend and I chose a gloomy day in the city to enjoy a ‘girl’s night in’ at the super stylish Hotel East Miami. Located in the trendy built up area of Brickell the hotel boasts rooms with panoramic views of the city’s scraping skyline and the ocean that tucks in between and beyond.
With just one night’s accommodation booked and a rainy day to escape outside we couldn’t have picked a better hotel for the occasion. We were booked into a Bay King room which is quite the showstopper when it comes to suites with a wow factor! The floor to ceiling views not only showcase the scene from one angle, the windows wrap their way around three sides of the suite so you have a view from every where you stand, even whilst brushing your teeth.
The room, especially considering it’s classed as one of the more standard category of rooms, is impressive in size to say the least and the decor was perfectly on point with modern touches and splashes of colour in-keeping with the well-known ‘city chic’ style of Miami. I especially loved the balcony space and the dramatic window next to the bath tub, in which, despite only being in the hotel for less than 24 hours, I made very good use of! Is there anything better to do on a rainy day than enjoy some wine and bubbles with a view? I think not…….
Whilst the room was fabulous and did its best to convince us to never leave, what I personally loved most about East Miami was the evening atmosphere and opportunity to get out and have a good time without having to set foot off the hotel grounds.
With the hotel graciously hosting us for the night we were treated to cocktails at Sugar followed by dinner at The Team Room. Sugar is a rooftop hot spot not to miss when visiting Miami, there’s a seriously cool vibe up on the 40th floor and upon stepping out of the speedy hotel lift it’s easy to recognize this place as THE place to be in Brickell.
The completely open-air tikki style bar takes full advantage of the year-round warm weather that Florida offers and the sweet breeze lends a helping hand with the ambiance of drinking there. The crowd is stylish and aware and the lavish tropical decor matches the fancy cocktail menu perfectly. View wise, it goes without saying that the city’s colorful skyline provides a pretty backdrop for conversation and it’s a bar I could have happily stayed in all night.
After our cocktails at East’s Sugar we headed back into the building and simply crossed the hallway to where we were set to have dinner. In-keeping with the rest of the hotel The Tea Room restaurant was as dramatic as the skyline that can be seen from every corner of the venue. The Tea Room offers an Asian Brunch in the evenings which was a really unique and well-received concept from us. You choose one dish from five different categories on the menu and the dishes are bought out in stages in a similar display to a traditional high tea. The food was divine, so delicious that I could have happily worked my way back through every course the following evening. The presentation of it all was tantalizing and innovative and the arrangement of fresh ingredients and powerful flavors really packed a punch in my memory as one of my favorite dining experiences in Miami. On top of the culinary dishes you can also enjoy free flowing champagne, wine, beer or sake with the brunch style dinner……..again sign me up for round two please!
The Tea Room is open Thursday – Saturday from 6-
The hotel really is a one-stop shop when it comes to maximizing time in Miami, it was for me, the perfect night out all round and being able to crash back into the room-with-a-view after free-flowing bubbles was blooming brilliant!
With the swanky rooms and the awesome evening atmosphere I’d highly recommend East for a stay in Miami. As the weather was gloomy we didn’t get to enjoy all of the amenities on offer as there is a large and pretty outdoor space with swimming pools and loungers etc but I did make it down to the spacious gym and as a final plus point, the hotel is physically attached the the neighboring mall. Brickell City Centre. So after stepping into one lift you can step out another into the huge collection of shops and restaurants, it was very, very handy!
Should I return to Miami any time soon I’d definitely re-book with East.
This was a hosted press stay with EAST Miami – The room and dinner was provided for no charge in exchange for this review style post. My views are my own and unbiased regardless.
