10 Things I LOVE about Conrad Maldives

Split between two islands, The Conrad Maldives boasts true luxury in one of the world’s most idyllic destinations. Due to the beauty of their location all hotels in the Maldives are paradise escapes, so to truly make their mark as the country’s best, resorts have to go that extra mile when it comes to extravagance. In my opinion, The Conrad Maldives does just that. Along with their incredibly accommodating and hospitable staff here’s my 10 reasons as to why this hotel stands out from the rest.

1. The Beach Bungalows

Huge rooms that lead straight onto the white sandy beach and crystal clear Indian Ocean! The rooms have dramatic high ceilings and large outdoor bathrooms that feature an open air shower and separate bath tub. The room has dual sinks, a large walk-in-wardrobe, a separate seating area and large centrepiece bed that looks out though floor to ceiling windows onto a private outdoor space with sun loungers and pretty walkway to the beach.

2. Ithaa, The Underwater Restaurant

A ‘once in a lifetime’ way to see the wonders of the ocean! Walk underneath freely swimming sharks, rays and fish and then take a seat at your very own table in the glass restaurant to watch the marine life glide above you whilst you sip on your champagne. Read more about Ithaa here.

3. The Over-Water Spa

The Maldives has so much to offer when it comes to taking time out to relax but if the calming sea breeze and warm weather isn’t enough to soothe you then a trip to the spa could take you to an entirely new level of zen! Choose from a wide range of treatments from expert therapists for the ultimate island indulgence.

4. Rangali Rani

Conrad’s sail boat is another reason to fall in love with Rangali Island, aptly name ‘Queen’ she is a real beauty! You can watch the sun rise or set whilst enjoying fresh pastries or canapés, all the while looking out onto the glistening horizon and looking out for dolphins!

5. The Water Villas

Arguably the main reason why so many people travel to The Maldives is to sleep above the ocean, in luxury! The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island offers a range of different over-water villas for guests to wake up to the sound of waves in. Each featuring a unique view of the dreamy islands and crystal clear waters. For those looking for the ultimate romantic escape you have the option never leave the room with your very own pool, access to the sea and options for 24/7 room service 😉

6. The Amazing Wildlife

The Maldives is famed for it’s bountiful marine life with a colourful array of fish to gaze at every time you venture out with a snorkel! Reef sharks glide past the the shallow beach fringe and manta rays dance through the night under the lights of the jetty. There’s also the chance of seeing dolphins, whales and even whale sharks for those venturing out on day trips with the Conrad team. Another regular wildlife feature is, George, the island’s pet heron (pictured above).

7. An Infinity Pool over the Ocean

Quite possibly my favourite place in the whole wide world, The Quiet Zone. This dramatic pool is suspended above the ocean offering guests ultimate tranquility with exceptional views, comfortable loungers and attentive pool servers with an enviable list of cocktails! Situated on the ‘adults only’ side of the island, the unique aquatic haven is simply perfect for unwinding with loved ones and enjoying the true beauty of the Indian Ocean.

8. Sunset Yoga on The Beach

With such beautiful beaches to laze on, a trip to the gym is not high on your list of priorities when staying in the Maldives. There is. however, the option to salute the sun during is rise or set by practising yoga with the islands guru, Manesh. With classes that are tailored to your own experience a light or vigorous stretch on the sand is always high on my list of ‘must-dos’ when staying at Conrad Maldives.

9. A Choice of 12 Restaurants & Bars

It’s a common misconception that although a holiday in The Maldives may be beautifully romantic it can also be quite restricted when it comes to activities and food choices and while that may be true for some hotels, with Conrad, there are so many options to wine and dine that most guests won’t spend long enough on the islands to enjoy them all! The food in every setting is amazing and all chefs cater so well for dietary requirements (I’m vegetarian and gluten free and I ate like a queen). There’s even an option to fondu in paradise, or dine at an open air Teppanyaki,  with the menu changes every few months to suit returning guests. I have visited Conrad three times now and I still haven’t been able to dine in every single restaurant. Read more about the culinary experiences here.

10. The Dreamy Sunset Villas

Just when you think it can’t get any better, you are introduced to The Sunset Presidential Villas. The dreamiest of all villas I ever had the pleasure of wandering around, with two bedrooms two large bath rooms, a living area with a glass floor above the ocean, an outdoor hot tub and a huge infinity pool that looks out onto a private sandbank. I couldn’t imagine a more beautiful spot to watch the sunset from. I haven’t personally stayed in this villa, it’s reserved for the true VIP’s but if sizing up is your own style then it doesn’t get better than this!
