Ithaa, The Spellbounding Underwater Restaurant

Under the sea, darling is better……….though it doesn’t have to be wetter! Introducing the world’s first under-the-sea restaurant, Ithaa at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

Last month I travelled to my favourite hotel in the world for the third time, The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Whilst I have so many amazing memories to share with you from this recent trip I wanted to dedicate a full post the the magical marvel that is Ithaa, their award winning and world renowned underwater restaurant.  At 16 feet below sea level you can dine, drink and twirl for the camera beneath the alluring wonder of the natural ocean. Ithaa was the very first of it’s kind, an all glass restaurant offering guests a panoramic view of the ocean whilst sharing an unforgettable moment with a loved one. This remarkable venue has a very special place in my heart as it offers people an aquarium experience whilst showcasing purely wild Sea Life. As someone who strives to encourage people to interact with animals in the wild rather than seeing them behind bars or in tanks I really commend the Conrad Maldives for their innovative design and appreciate the creation of somewhere that can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter their swimming capabilities or ocean fears.

On every occasion I’ve spent a few days at Conrad Maldives I always made a trip to Ithaa, there is something so unique about the atmosphere inside the restaurant, it’s therapeutic yet alluring and exiting at the same time.  The space has two options to dine, late morning for canapés and cocktails, where the sea comes to life with dazzling blues and colourful fish or dinner in the evening as the sun sets creating a dewy glisten for the sharks come round to play. Equally as exhilarating, yet offering a truly different experience each time.

I have always opted for the eleven o’clock bubbles myself, each time watching on in awe (whilst sipping in champers!) as the gorgeous Indian ocean showed me inside her home! There really is no place like it in the world and if you haven’t already added The Conrad Maldives to you bucket list nows the time to!
