Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu – An Ionian Oasis

Last week I had the pleasure of seeing out my summer in Greece by spending a long weekend at the spectacular Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu.

The luxury adults only resort is one of two Domes Resorts properties based on the island of Corfu, an island I had never had the pleasure of visiting before. Having travelled to Kefalonia at the very start of my Grecian Summer however I was very aware of the beauty the Ionian islands have to offer and Corfu exceeded all of my expectations!

Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu is an idyllic hideaway resort that was once residence to royalty and is now a home from home for the travel elite. The secluded setting has such unique and special views perfectly matching the attentiveness and warmth of the hotel staff, it’s a true oasis nestled amongst the lush greenery of Corfu.

The main building is poetically built around a 500 year old olive tree, setting the tone of the entire resort where the serene simplicity of nature meets perfectly clean lines of contemporary architecture. Designer art structures, impressive lighting and unique furniture showcase the history and traditions of the island in the eclectic modern masterpiece.

The hotel accommodations are divided into the Haute Living beachfront villas and suites all of which stretch horizontally across the resort so no matter where you are, at any given time, you’re only ever a few footsteps away from the sea. BLISS.

The ‘holiday’ season for Greece is between May and October with gorgeous hot weather throughout summer and an invitingly warm sea for swimming in.  During my stay last week however a storm decided to join me disrupting the usual end of season calm.

Though the crackling sounds of thunder and aggressively beautiful skies were magical to witness it did mean the resort wasn’t looking her usual sunny self due to the ferociousness of the sea. That being said, little imagination was needed to paint a picture of how spectacular the resort must be without rain.

I volunteer as tribute to return next year to show you more sun filled scenes but for now I was able to admire the beauty of the resort mid-storm. The truest testament to an amazing hotel is having a wonderful stay in ‘unlucky’ weather conditions.

Food

Falling in love with a resort that is so beautifully located is one thing but despite the constant sea views what stood out the most for me at Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu was the food.

Every single meal, nay bite, was tantalizing to taste, with delicious on and off menu options at every dining opportunity and a sommelier on hand to ensure the perfect wine pairing. Though the restaurants would not have been present for the previous billionaires that frequented here we were certainly treated like one with our culinary experience.

The Spa

During my short stay I had the luxury of visiting and enjoying the spa for a signature massage treatment. The setting was breath-taking with views of the resort ‘best bits’, olive trees stretching out onto the foaming Ionian and pretty whirlpools right in front of the therapy rooms.

The entire experience was so luxuriously special.

My therapist Efi was a Greek Goddess seamlessly finding her way to all my knots, aches and pains and relieving them as if by magic with her rhythmic moves. The spa though small with just two treatment rooms (at present) is a haven within the utopia that is Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu.

Corfu Old Town

Though stepping outside of the hotel might seem tough with so much beauty inside the resort, Corfu is one of the most unique Greek islands to explore if those sandy feet become itchy!

Whether you rent a car or schedule a yacht ‘taxi’ directly from the resort’s private pier, the concierge team at Domes Miramare can accommodate your wishes with ease.

I had just a few days to play with on my recent visit so an extensive guide of what to see and do won’t be possible for me to share (until my return ;)) but I was lucky enough to spend a few hours in the gorgeous old town and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The picturesque cobbled streets of Corfu Old Town feature a mix of Venetian and Byzantine architecture with a stunning backdrop of the lush greenery Ionian islands are famous for. Protected by UNESCO, the entire town is like an open air museum full of history and romance.

You can wander around gazing at the awe-inspiring cliff edge views then bury yourself deep inside the busy streets and squares that are full of traditional restaurants and shops. It’s beautiful to see during the day but also a great place for a sip and spend in the evenings 😉

A stay at Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort, Corfu was for me, the epitome of a luxury break. The staff couldn’t do more for you or make you feel any more special. It was the perfect 3 night get-away with flight times from London being less than 4 hours but I could have happily indulged in a longer holiday style stay.

There’s a large swimming pool, open air gym (with a daily class program) and so much more to see and do on the island of Corfu itself, it would be a lie if I were to say I’m not desperate to return someday soon!

Domes Resorts have a handful of luxury hotels based in both Corfu and Crete, you can find more details and pricing here, who’s joining me next year?
