Heavenly Dining in Paradise

Last month I was lucky enough to once again visit paradise, also known as The Conrad Maldives, to once again tantalise my taste buds by dining out in some of my favourite restaurants of all time.

As this was my second visit to this dreamy wonderland of deliciousness I  was lucky enough to revisit some restaurants I had already dined in and also enjoy some brand new dishes and experiences. I previously wrote a culinary tour of the island here, in which I talk about the 12 restaurants and bars that The Conrad Maldives has to offer and some of my favourites, on my second visit however it’s time to show you even more!

Starting with my absolute favourite, MandHoo Restaurant.  A stunning eatery in the Indian Ocean that is perfectly situated opposite the resorts luxury spa. This restaurant is the islands healthy choice as the menu consist of a number of well thought out dishes to not only suit your palette but to also suit your state of zen! The menu is split into the elements earth, air, water and fire to suit your mood, each with their own choice of starter and main. The dishes are presented beautifully in perfect portion sizes and the drinks menu is as extensive as the food choices.

The best part of this restaurant however has to be the location, stilted in the ocean and completely open air it’s the absolute perfect place for lunch, I dare say, one of my favourite places in the whole world! There’s then the added bonus of the shark and ray feedings that take place daily at 1pm, you can order your lunch whilst watching the unique sea life eat theirs 😉 conrad-maldives-clutch-carry-on-www-clutchandcarryon-com-uk-travel-blogger-1-of-2

Next up the ever tantalising Koko Grill. I have eaten and written about this dining experience in my previous post but on my return recently the menu had been changed. (This is  regular occurrence for The Conrad Maldives due to the extremely high number of returning guests every year) The meal consists of 10 courses, each of which is served by a chosen accompaniment of sake! The dishes are all incredibly unique and experimental yet  I loved each and every one.

This dining experience is usually outside in a open kitchen style but due to bad weather we enjoyed the food and drinks inside the nearby Vilu Restaurant which is also perfectly located on the calm beach. Each dish is presented to you by the chef who then talks you through exactly whats on your plate before you tuck in. It’s such a lovely touch and it’s always so great to be able to compliment the chef in person, which we needed to after every single bite!

A restaurant that was new to me was The Sunset Grill, another over water establishment within the resort and another amazing culinary experience! The physical restaurant is breathtaking, with private tables on wooden stilts the Indian Ocean and an incredible view of the Reef below whilst you dine.

The speciality here is seafood but as with all the restaurants in the Conrad Maldives there is something for everyone and a chef is always on hand to cater to any special requirements you may have. We dined here in the evening under the stars and it was such a magical evening. I highly recommend the avocado and mozzarella salad for starters and the seafood platter for main.

On the note of special requirements I travelled as part of a group trip on this visit and one of the girls was heavily allergic to nuts and seafood and also lactose intolerant. In each and every restaurant she was catered to with delicious and innovative dishes which I thought was a real testament to the creative chefs in each restaurant and the fantastic service from each staff member, they really were amazing on every occasion.

Along with the fine meals we were also spoilt for choice when it comes to cocktails for the week. The girls and I worked our way through just about every one on the menu! One of the best things abut ordering your tipple in the Rangali Bar is the visual menus provided. The menus are actually IPADs and each and every cocktail has a picture to show you exactly what the drink will look like, how perfect?! I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve been plagued with aesthetic envy when it comes to drinks 😉

Then of course, there’s Ithaa, the famous underwater restaurant. I’ll save that unique world wonder for another post 😉
