My Top Instagram Tips for NYFW

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Having just returned from the spectacular chaos that is New York Fashion Week I wanted to share with you my do’s and don’ts for conquering fashion week like an instagram pro.

This was my first time at New York fashion week but luckily I had my E! Stylist Claire Chanelle  with me to show me the ropes 😉 We documented our stay on our social media @sabrina_chakici & @iamchouquette and I wanted to share my guide with you all!

1.Rock the latest trends

If you thought Fashion Week was just about the shows you were mistaken, nowadays sidewalks are the new catwalks and every Fashionista in town wants their look to reach it into the coveted street style galleries in the glossy magazines and trend sites.

The best way to get ‘papped’ in your outfit by street style photographers is by wearing the latest trends. This season for instance it was all about the pyjama suits and velvet accessories. Most street style photographers love an action snap so whatever you do DO NOT stop and pose. Look at your phone and carry on walking girl!

2.Twin Up

Another great way to make it into the street style galleries is to twin up with your friend in matching outfits. Holding hands is a sweet touch but making sure your outfits are matching or at least complimenting each others will make a huge statement and get those photographers running to you 😉

3.Celebrity spot

Everyone loves a grew celebrity snap right? They stars are out in force during fashion week so set your camera to selfie mode at all times 😉 If you are looking for the hottest talent in town head to the E! lounge which is right in the thick of things at Moynihan Station. If you are lucky you can even catch Giuliana, Melissa and Brad filming Fashion Police!

4.Get invites to the shows

Whether you work in fashion, are an established influencer or have just began your own fashion blog it’s worth applying for access to your favourite shows. Most designers like a mix of media, established influencers and new bloggers to attend their shows so don’t be afraid to contact their PR company no matter how many followers you have. You can gain access to the show schedule a few weeks before the event online.

Use your snapchat and instastories to take your followers with you, you are giving them the first look of that new collection and they will love you for it!

5.Stay somewhere close to the action with a great view

Staying close to the shows and events is imperative as you will need to get changed in-between all the excitement. As you will need lots of space for all your looks make sure you room is large and accommodating, I also recommend a room with a view for those perfect instagramable ‘Morning everyone’ moments 😉

6.Yellow cabs are your best friend

Not only do they look fab in all your photos they are also far more accessible than users during fashion week – now that they take card there is no comparison when it comes to saving time!

7.Have a great breakfast

There is very little chance in-between all of your shows and changes that you’ll have a moment to eat anything pretty (or anything at all for that matter) so grab that perfect culinary snap at breakfast 😉

8.Do something a little different

There may be an influx of #NYFW so do something that is going to make you stand out from the crowd. Maybe a girl squad image? Or a picture taken at an iconic New York tourist spot like The Empre State Building? Claire and I took a helicopter trip with Net-A-Porter to get an amazing view of New York itself and our social media fans loved it! (Stay tuned for more of the copter action ;))
