Whitehaven Beach

Sabrina Chakici - Clutch & Carry-On - UK Travel Blogger - Australia East coast Travel Vlog (1 of 3)

Whitehaven beach is the equivalent of a 6 star resort when it comes to luxury, it is without a doubt, a little slice of heaven!

One of the world’s most famous beaches, situated on the stunning Whitsunday Island in Queensland, Australia. Whether you’re looking down over it from above or swimming in the crystal clear waters, this pristine stretch of sand really does take your breath away!

Kilometres of lush silica sand with not a hotel or home in sight to share the dreamy skies with!

The beach itself is only accessible via boat so you can either include it in an existing sail or you can jump on one of the frequent day trips from Airlie Beach. You could also take a scenic flight over the mesmerising swirls via helicopter or seaplane. We travelled to the famous beach whilst on a 3 day boat trip with Whitsunday Bliss which I would highly recommend, we spent a few hours swooning down over the sand patterns from the lookout and then moved to the physical beach itself for a frolic on the white sands.

The swirly displays are different every day and tide time due to the movements in the ocean so you really do have your own unique show whenever you decide to visit, every which way, the view is spectacular! We even had some beautiful gloomy clouds to really show off the scene, it was magical. We visited during jelly fish season (Oct-May) so didn’t get to enjoy the ocean all that much, we could have opted to take some stinger suits with us but we decided to just chill on the beach instead which was amazing.

Most of the day trips run at similar times so you have to be clever to avoid the crowds on the beach, if you are travelling in on a charter they can time it perfectly for you but if you are travelling in on one of the group day trips you’ll need to be savvy and speedy enough to walk further down the beach for the upmost tranquility!
