There’s little denying how tough this last year has been for all of us, being separated from friends and families for such a long period of time wasn’t easy and now we are able to meet again it’s still important to keep as safe as we can. That being said, there’s noting to stop us doing it in style! Sofitel London St James have thought of the perfect summer ‘date’ idea and the best bit? There’s no need for a face mask 😉

Sofitel London St James is one of my favourite London hotels, the location is fantastic, the architecture of the building is stunning and the service is second to none. I’ve written all about the hotel and why I love it so much here but to sum it up, Sofitel London St James is one of those London hotels you simply have to walk by to know how fabulous a stay there would be.

The five star hotel has now decided to sprinkle some of their excellence a little further from their well-kept doorstep by introducing to guests ‘The Royal Picnic’. The luxury outdoor dining experience also includes bike hire for two, allowing guests to work up a London fuelled appetite before the culinary indulgence.

The team at Sofitel London St James have created a darling illustrated map showcasing the best route around the local area with marked ‘best bits’ to see safely at your leisure and though the ride is not restricted to this route, as a commuting cyclist, I was pleased to see they had in fact, picked the best bits 😉

After your cycle you meet at St James’s park at a pre-arranged time and a charming Butler greets you with a smile and hamper in hand 😉

St James is one of the most beautiful small parks in London, it’s location is gorgeous with the Horse Guards Parade on one side and Buckingham Palace on the other, there’s also a stunning lake with fountain displays in the centre which makes for the perfect setting for a picnic.

Sofitel London St James’s butler suggests a perfect spot and then proceeds to pour you a glass of champagne whilst he lays out your delicious spread of salads, finger sandwiches, cheeses, scones and pastries with a bottle of still and sparkling water to see you through. He then departs with your bikes and returns them to the hotel. Ease personified! 

The afternoon is yours, once you’re about ready to ‘call it a day’ you simply call your trusty butler to return and he will pack up everything and wish you a good evening onwards 😀

I was lucky enough to experience this treat last Friday, my friend Aimee and I had the best day! We were also fortunate to have some glorious sunshine joining us so it felt like a little holiday in my own city! I highly recommend this Royal Picnic, so much so I’m already bugging the boy for his availability 😉 

The package is available throughout the month of September for £109.00 for 2 people. I think this is such a great price for such a special date, whether it’s a girly catch up or some much needed rekindling of romance with your significant other.
