New York – The Conrad Hotel

Looking for the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the big apple? I’ve got you covered 😉

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending 4 days and 3 nights at The Conrad Hotel, New York. Having visited 4 different hotels from this group before I was expecting the wow factor that I am always greeted with when staying in a prestigious Conrad Hotel; A high level of excellence when it comes to hospitality and service, an impressive structure with lavish modern features, large luxurious rooms and the perfect location.atrium

Luckily having my hopes set so high for this stay was not in vain, The Conrad New York did not disappoint! The building is a huge work of art with crisp contemporary interiors that have you second guessing whether you are at a hotel or an art gallery. The hotel lobby and communal areas are so vast in size there is an overwhelming sense of space, it’s an amazing contrast to the hustle and bustle of the crazy NYC streets just outside the glass walls.  The floor to ceiling is exposed so that every floor has the above incredible view.

During my last trip to the big city I was given the much appreciated recommendation for the hotel’s famous skyline bar; Loopy Doopy, so I had visited the hotel before but only in the dark of night.

The bar was one of the highlights of my trip and I loved the space so much I featured it in my ‘New York evening hotspot recommendations‘. This trip however, I was lucky enough to be able to visit this stunning roof-top location in the light of day, confirming the spot as one of my favourite places to be in New York.

There is something so serene and yet exciting about the view from here. You can see the Statue of Liberty from one side and you have the most amazing view of the Hudson river from first entrance. During the day it’s a tranquil haven to enjoy a coffee and during the evening it’s the prime spot to enjoy one of their fun icicle cocktails, the bar comes to life with the city itself. The view switches up to a blanket of black and colourful coloured details from the famous bright lights of NYC.

The best part of this hotel though, is something that could easily be taken for granted in New York, the roof terrace is stunning and the interiors are spectacular but without a doubt the best thing about the Conrad New York and what really sets it part from every other hotel in the city is that every single room in the accommodation is a suite.

This is almost unheard of in New York, as with any busy city finding a large living space is very difficult. I have stayed in New York twice before and on both occasions I could barley hop skip and jump from my window to the front door – no exaggeration, you are lucky to have space between beds in most new york accommodation.

I was in NYC for New York Fashion Week on a work trip with E! so I travelled with my stylist and friend Claire Chanelle.  We stayed in a deluxe suite which is actually the most affordable in the property and it was larger than the majority of rooms I have ever stayed in during a city break. There was a large living space, a spacious bathroom and a large bedroom with ample wardrobe space – a must if you are staying during fashion week!

It was Miss Claire’s birthday whilst we were out there so I packed up all things flamingo to surprise her with on the day. The hotel staff were so helpful in helping me plan a surprise for her birthday, When we went out to dinner and drinks I left all the banners and bow-ups on the bed and nipped down to reception before leaving for the evening 😉 When we arrived back to the room the team had created an absolute perfect display, I was so pleased! It’s such a nice touch when hotels make the extra effort to make your stay so memorable – it must have taken them at least an hour to blow up the inflatables and decorate the space – such an lovely gesture and Claire was so pleased to feel special on her big day even though she was working and miles from home.

On that note we were also gifted with wine and pretty fruit baskets everyday in our living space of the room, which came in handy as we rarely had a moment spare for a snack during our stay. Having the bountiful sweet tray at our peril was a lifesaver on occasions!

We had a lovely breakfast every morning in the Atrio restaurant and we also treated ourselves to some room service on Claire’s Birthday which was great. The breakfast spread was everything you would want and need for an early start, fresh juices, bread baskets, pastries, cheeses, sliced meats…..the list goes on! You can also order from the a-la-carte menu and order your preferred coffees, to which we took great advantage of!

We had a lovely dinner at the very same restaurant which was delicious. I highly recommend the brussel sprouts, I realise that’s a rather random choice but they were cooked in the most amazing way with a sweet cranberry sauce, parmesan and pine nuts – they were phenomenal – I am genuinely looking forward to visiting again for these beauts! Claire and I were joined by the gorgeous Zohanna to enjoy an evening with some celebratory bubbles. The team were really on hand to make sure Claire enjoyed her day, again so lovely of them to make such an effort.

It was a short and sweet trip to New York with E! & Look Magazine (read all about what we were up to here) that we probably didn’t even get to experience all that the hotel has to offer but none the less, it was a great stay. The size of the rooms and the stunning roof-top views were exactly what we fashionistas needed amongst the madness of Fashion Week!

For those of you not travelling during NYFW however, the hotel offers the unique ‘Stay Inspired’ program that is featured in a number of Conrad hotels throughout the world. The idea is that when you stay in one of the selected hotels the Conrad group has created an itinerary of potential activities for you to enjoy in the area. The detailed excursions are split into 3 categories; 1, 3 and 5 hour activities so that you can plan your stay with perfect timing whilst being able to see and explore everything you want to. The program is available on the Stay Inspired website here and there is also an app you can download to use whilst you are out and about. Some of the highlights in New York include oysters on the Hudson and a sail around Manhattan, did I mention how much I wanted to return to New York?!

I was lucky enough to experience the Stay Inspired app first hand in Hong Kong it’s such an amazing concept. Read all about it here 🙂

In conclusion, should I return to New York (which I sincerely hope I will soon!) I wouldn’t hesitate in booking the Conrad once again 😀
