The Ritz Carlton Dubai

The ultimate instagram moment, frolicking on the beach with blue skies and skyscrapers in the background…..throw in a few resident camels and you have the daily backdrop of The Ritz Carlton JBR.clutch and carry on - uk travel blogger - dubai travel blog - dubai yacht tour - sabrina chakici-3A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of spending Christmas in Dubai. After lots of research and deliberations we chose the Ritz Carlton JBR to be our residence for the week.

When staying in Dubai there are lots of aspects to think of when booking accommodation for me it was all about posing in front of the enviable industry skyline (the blogger in me always looking for the best photo ops ;)) and Mems wanted to stay by the beach. As a compromise I went in search of a beach location that was close enough to the hustle and bustle 😉

There are two options when it comes to a nice beach resort. You can either stay on Jumeirah Beach or The Palm. The Palm is great for families and its a beautiful beach but it is a little bit further out so you do end up travelling further in to the bars, restaurants and shopping malls.

The Ritz Carlton is located on Jumeirah Beach Walk which for us was perfect. It’s a great little promenade with restaurants, shops, beach hang outs and bars and when it came to exploring Dubai we found that we were only ever 30 minutes away from every thing. The water parks, malls, sky bars etc. I will be writing a full post on Dubai with regards to where to go and what to see next Sunday but for now you’ll have to take my word for it 😉

So back to the actual hotel. The Ritz Carlton JBR is everything you would expect from such a recognised luxury brand name. Gorgeous, expensive looking decor, pristine fixtures and fittings, attentive staff and beautifully well kept gardens and beach areas.

There are a number of pools in the resort but I personally only spent time in the Aduts only pool with the always well-recieved swim up bar 😉 They had the most amazing Cucumber and Gin cocktail so I may have swam up one or two times more than I ought to have done 😉

As well as the pools there is a great beach area. In Dubai no beaches are rendered private so the hotel, quite cleverly, created a private beach before you reach the actual beach. So you can enjoy the luxuries of a private beach, the sea views, private beds and parasols, waiter service for drinks and food etc. You just have to walk a little further to dip your toes into the sea 😉

If you do decide to venture down to the beach be aware that like anywhere in Dubai, there is construction left, right and centre. So it’s not exactly idilic views but if you are travelling here for beach views you are probably heading to the wrong spot – for me Dubai is all about those gorgeous sky scrapers!

The beach does have it’s very own resident camels, which is quite cool. I didn’t take a ride myself as I was only ever down by the beach in my bikini so that would have been a tad awkward!

After a day relaxing at the beach, or cocktailing at the swim up bar it’s then time to retreat back to the room………..

The standard rooms at the Ritz Carlton are amazing! So spacious, full of light and gorgeously decorated. There are tow parts of the hotel, the older wing and the more modern part of the building. The older side has beautiful middle eastern inspired decor and interiors and the modern side is as these pictures show, a perfect mix of both cultures.

We were given the opportunity to chose between them but the bathroom in this room, was for me, love at first sight!A glass partition wall – I’m all about these! A free standing bath with a TV on the wall directly in front of the head rest. (That had E! – bonus!!) two sinks, 5 shower heads, separate WC – lots of surface space for products – an absolute dream hotel bathroom!

The room was so spacious and we were welcomed back daily to fruits and treats, they even left a bottle of wine and christmas present on the big day!

The bed was lovely and large, crazy comfy – in fact, with the added luxury o flack out curtains it was probably too comfy! You could sleep all day 😉

The room’s heat, lighting and curtains are all operated by a tablet on your bedside table which is so handy! You are given the option to select a mood and the lighting and curtains will adapt to your selection immediately. The heating and air conditioning was also fab. I think this is always worth mentioning when you are staying in a warmer country, there is nothing worse than coming back from a day at the beach to a sweltering room!

The breakfast was great, so many options! I can’t think of anything that wasn’t part of the buffet actually, you can then order tea and coffee to the table. You are guaranteed to find something here, even if you are a fussy eater, they had it all covered!

I also had the pleasure of using the hotel spa during my stay. It was ah-ma-zing! I had a full body massage and it was by far one of the best I have ever had! We then got to utilise the amenities of the spa; the sauna, steam and hot & cold plunge pools.

There is also an amazing outdoor heated rooftop pool. One of my favourite spots in the hotel, it is absolutely gorgeous at night too! Unfortunately for obvious reasons I didn’t take my camera into the spa so I have used these images from the hotel’s website. If you caught the views on snap chat however you’ll know exactly what I mean when I describe the skyline as breath taking!

I would highly recommend if you are staying in Dubai to visit this spa in the evening. I will add it to my ‘Things to do’ post 😉RCDUBAI_00155_1280x720

RCDUBAI_00156_1280x720Staying at a Hotel like the Ritz you expect the service to be impressive and I have to say the staff at the Ritz Carlton JBR did not let us down. Attentive, friendly and always there to offer a helping hand!clutch and carry on - uk travel blogger - dubai travel blog - sabrina chakici -_-68

For example, fresh flower displays at every turn and flickering candle lanterns in the evening lighting up the walk ways. Simple touches that mean so much to someone like me who travels so often and has the opportunity to stay at so many luxury resorts. As with fashion……..it’s all in the details 😉
